Kohlrabi

Kohlrabi.

It looks like my very first Kohlrabi is nearly ready.

As I have never cooked or eaten this veggie before I'm wondering if anyone has a favorite recipe or link to a recipe they can send me so as to make sure I get off on the right foot with Kohlrabi?

PS. For anyone waiting I promise to have my garlic post up on Wednesday.

Ooooo, there a lot of recipes with this veggie. In Romania is very popular. If you want, you can leave me your e-mail in my newsletter box on my blog (not to publish it), and I will send you some great recipes as soon as possible.

I just cut them into chips and dip them in a dressing or flavored cream cheese (mmmm, jalapeno cream cheese). I've only ever eaten them raw.

I eat it raw, just sliced. My boys love it, too.
It can be added to salads. Yum!

Stewart......I just grew my first one over the winter and I must say.......it was pretty good! We just ate them raw.......but I have heard that the Eastern European's eat them by the bunch, so Silvia will probably be a great source.

Congratulations! This is a fine vegetable to grow.

Peel and cut into chips. Eat raw.

Or peel and cut into thick (5mm) slices, crumb, fry in oil or butter.

Or peel and cut in cubes. Then sweat some onions and garlic, add kohlrabi cubes, add favourite stock. Let simmer till Kohlrabi is tender. (Some add cream, depends on your preference.) Either eat as is, or blend to a creamy soup. Sprinkle some chives or parsley over, then serve with crusty bread.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the tips everyone, I think I get the idea.
Will try various ways as they become ready.
