Oh, you are so lucky to be in summer. It will be months before I can eat local sweet corn again where I live in the northern United States...I hope the corn was as good as it looked.

There's nothing can beet sweet corn fresh from the garden, is there?
We went off on holidays and I had to leave most of mine for my son to eat. He tells me they were delicious & none were wasted but they were all gone when we got home.
Thinking I might try a for a second crop. Maybe too late. What do you think?

Hi Missy, sorry to hear you missed out on your sweet corn. But you have heaps of time to plant where you are. You could plant seedlings now and get a head start and in a few weeks plant seed. That way you could get two crops. twice the fun.

So much Stewart for the "slow life" gone in 60 seconds ehh? I agree completely though, there is nothing like eating hot fresh sweet corn straight out of the garden. (Perhaps fresh spuds are an equal pleasure). Well done.

You really need to watch Nacho Libre.
It has some great "corny" scenes.

I bet that corn was sweet as can be!

Questions for you -
1. How do you know when to pick it?
2. How long do you cook it for?
3. I thought I had another question but I can't think of it now.

PS. Great pic!

See the photo below and notice how the silky hairs that come out the top of the cob have turned brown that's when you pick it. Cooking for me is 5 to 7 minutes in unsalted boiling water. Serve hot with butter and salt.
