Dr Graham Phillips investigates new technology that is able to convert more than 40 per cent of the sun's light into electricity. This is more than double the efficiency of today's domestic rooftop solar panels, and could eventually lead to cheaper sources of renewable energy.

Even at 15% efficiencies, they are a fully matured technology that works now. I have fully powered my home for the last two years on 2000 watts worth. The super efficient panels I see as only being worthwhile if space was a luxury. RV roofing etc. :) Else, what does it matter if the array is huge?
