Is WHOFLUNGDUNG 💩 a Super-Mulch?

💩I pinched the following blurb from the Neutrog, Whoflungdung web page. http://www.neutrog.com.au/product_range/whoflungdung/

💩Whoflungdung is a biologically activated, nutrient-rich, weed-free, absorbent, super mulch!

It has been composted, inoculated with eNcase and filled with nutrients so that when added to soil it introduces a wide diversity of beneficial bacteria. These beneficial bacteria readily proliferate through the soil, acting as a barrier/deterrent to pathogenic bacteria, providing a safe environment for healthy plant growth. Whoflungdung aids in restricting and reducing the growth of weeds, and many users also happily report that blackbirds don’t like it.

Whoflungdung is absorbent, as it helps retain moisture and warmth in the garden, which improves nutrient uptake. It adds nutrients to the soil for both the beneficial bacteria and plants to feed on – significantly reducing, if not eliminating, the nitrogen draw-down issues that are associated with most other mulches.

Whoflungdung is available in compressed 20kg bales from good hardware and garden supply shops, and in bulk from select suppliers. Apply a uniform layer of Whoflungdung at 25mm to 100mm deep to cover soil, leaving 50mm to 100mm gap around the base of any plants, trees or shrubs. One compressed bale will cover between 4 – 8 m2.

🐣 It was a fabulous Winters afternoon when I went to visit Steve and check out how he went about setting his bathtub worm farm.

A big thanks to Steve for accepting my invitation to visit his place and making this video.

Steve will continue to feed his worms using predominantly kitchen waste.

I’ll check back in on Steve’s worm progress and see how much the worm population has increased.

I also need to apologise for the audio in this video. Steve’s mic worked a treat as you can hear but I had the wrong adaptor on my mic and my audio was unusable so all I had to work with was what was picked up on Steve’s mic.

Also if you have any advice or suggestions for a couple of worm farm novices then, by all means, leave us a comment below.

A day out at the Queensland Garden Expo.

A day out at the Queensland Garden Expo. Check it out! Share this video and give it a like. YouTube likes that kind of thing and so do I.

After an early start, we arrived at Nambour to beautiful blue skies and a lovely, sunny, sub-tropical winters day. This is my fifth year attending the Queensland Garden Expo and I've never been disappointed once including this year. Looking forward to next year already.

Here are the results of planting tomatoes later than the accepted wisdom. Not all that pretty now that we are in the middle of winter but this is the most tomatoes I've managed to harvest here in quite some time. I will try two more trials this coming summer, planting seeds on the 1st of December and January.

How do you go with your tomatoes? Do you think planting later would help? Let me know in the comments.

Great day to be out in the veggie garden.

Great day to be out in the veggie garden.

40kph winds, overcast with showers and drizzle.

Think I'll stay inside and do my online spring seed shopping.

But there's always compost kitchen scraps to empty into the compost bins.

What's happening in your veggie garden? Let me know in the comments, I've got all day to read them.🤭🤭🤭
