The most splendid of visions

While out dodging dodgy drivers in my Taxi yesterday I had to make a detour and as I came around a corner I spied, possibly, the most florescent camellia I think I have ever seen. And while I was admiring this most splendid of visions it almost turned me into one of the dodgy drivers I was trying to dodge. So today I just had to go back and take a few photos and a Video just so I could show you. It might not be quite as brilliant as yesterday due to today being very overcast but I think you will get the idea.

The flower might not be the showiest going around but the colour and the sheer quantity of flowers sure made this one heck of a shrub to visit.

Bring it on.

Bring on the japonicas. I don't need much encouragement to go for a walk at this time of the year, but with the Carmelia japonicas coming into flower it's a walk in the park.

Is orange the new Yellow?

I'd like to think I'm a man of simple tastes.
So it was 12 months ago that I decided I wanted a yellow Hibiscus. Nothing fancy, just a hibiscus with a simple yellow flower like the one on the label below.
After 12 months of waiting, fertilizing, watering, mulching, etc, etc, what do I get?
A bright burnt Orange bloody monstrosity.



How hard is it these days to get a simple yellow flowering Hibiscus?
Arrrggghhhh.

















On a brighter note the Lettuce 'drunken woman' and 'Red leprechaun', from the 'A lovely surprise' post, planted last Sunday came up after just four days.

The photo here is taken seven days after planting.









I love Camellias as well and this one is flowering particularly well at the moment.
