A flower a day for September. #3

Short and sweet today. Straight from my backyard to you.

Taraxacum officinale (according to Wikipedia), the Common Dandelion (often simply called "dandelion"), is a herbaceous perennial plant of the family Asteraceae (Compositae). It can be found growing in temperate regions of the world, in lawns, on roadsides, on disturbed banks and shores of water ways, and other areas with moist soils. T. officinale is considered a weedy species, especially in lawns and along roadsides, but it is sometimes used as a medical herb and in food preparation. As a nearly cosmopolitan weed, Dandelion is best known for its yellow flower heads, that turn into round balls of silver tufted fruits, that blow away on the wind.

Cheers

Stewart

Edit 4th September 2010.
The name dandelion is a derivation of the Old French, dent-de-lion, literally "lion's tooth" on account of the sharply lobed leaves of the plant. In modern French the plant is called pissenlit, "urinate in bed", referring to its diuretic properties. Likewise, "pissabeds" is an English folkname for this plant and "piscialletto" in Italian.

aren't they also known as 'wet the beds'?

Bangchik, yes, apart from their nuisance value as a weed they are a very pretty plant.
Hi Deb, I haven't heard that one, do you have any more info about it?

nope, just remember different times when people have called them that and each time I remember thinking, 'what, the dandelions?'

Hey! I know this is kinda off topic however I'd figured I'd
ask. Would you be interested in trading links or maybe guest writing
a blog post or vice-versa? My blog addresses a lot of the same subjects as yours
and I feel we could greatly benefit from each other.
If you're interested feel free to shoot me an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Terrific blog by the way!

I'm really loving the theme/design of your weblog. Do you ever run into any web browser compatibility issues? A small number of my blog visitors have complained about my website not working correctly in Explorer but looks great in Chrome. Do you have any advice to help fix this problem?

Howdy just stumbled upon your blog via Yahoo after I typed
in, "Blogger: My Veggie Garden" or something similar (can't quite remember exactly). In any case, I'm delighted I
found it because your content is exactly what I'm looking for (writing a college paper) and I hope you don't mind if I gather some information from here and I will
of course credit you as the source. Thank you very much.

Hi there. I noticed your site title, "Blogger: My Veggie Garden"
doesn't really reflect the content of your web site. When creating your site title, do you think it's best to write it for
Search engine marketing or for your viewers? This is something I've been battling with mainly because I want great rankings but at the same time I want the best quality for my visitors.

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell
and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the
shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic
but I had to tell someone!

Hi there! Quick question that's totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My blog looks weird when browsing from my iphone4. I'm
trying to find a template or plugin that might be able to correct this problem.
If you have any suggestions, please share. With thanks!

Hi would you mind sharing which blog platform you're working with? I'm
looking to start my own blog in the near future but I'm having a difficult time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your design and style seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for something completely
unique. P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!

Howdy administrator, I just wanted to give you a brief heads up that your current Website link: http://www.
blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=7677496750939268931&postID=3391284601805958813 is being flagged as a potentially malicious
web page in my browser opera. I would highly recommend having somebody look into it.
You can lose a lot of site visitors due to this kind of issue.

Very best of Luck.

Hi this is kinda of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG
editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I'm starting a blog soon but have no coding expertise so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in
your content seem to be running off the screen in Firefox.
I'm not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I thought I'd post to let you know.
The design look great though! Hope you get the issue solved soon.
Kudos
