The Kiss Principal.

I tripped and fell awkwardly at work and with a combination of a painful knee, a less than happy shoulder and a few other little niggles I wasn't in the mood for gardening.

But I'm on the mend and ready to get back into it.

Today I've planted 5 salad veggies that you can get quickly get started two different ways.

Planting first as micro-greens and at the same time direct sowing ensuring a long harvest period.

Sorry to hear about your accident Stuart (Stewart?) it's a bummer isn't it? but I'm glad to hear that you're on the mend.

I try (mostly unsuccessfully) to grow my veg organically but every bug known to man and beast descends on my garden : (

In his book "Gaia's Garden" Toby Heminway says to just leave them and nature will fix things in the end. I've had lots of beneficial bugs over the summer but my repertoire seems to have been malabar spinach then figs now loads of peaches and a few crappy strawberries. The rest of my garden has been very healthy and admired (it's a bit wild just the way I like it) but there aint much to eat.

Hey Stuart. Sorry to hear about your accident; and I hope you're making a swift recovery. I was in Brighton, on the north side of Brisbane when we copped all that rain and my little garden in Logan grew in a massive way as well. When I returned I was clipping back a lot of things that my folks hadn't done (well, they kept the lawn short and pulled weeds, but that was it). Then I found out one of my neighbours chopped one of my 6ft small leaf Jades clean in half because it had become waterlogged! OMG! I found the top half and recently repotted it... thank god I found it! She tossed in the green bins at the back of the unit complex (stupid woman!).

Anyway, I've been propagating tomato seeds from cherry and truss tomatoes in my green house and they're looking great! I've bought potatoes in a bag, and I'm going to get any that start to grow in that bag into the ground when I can... :D This should be fun! And I'm freezing my veggies as well (yep, Google's a great source of info when it comes to asking if you freeze veggies). I've already got spinach growing (it's Fijian spinach and grows all year round)... and my herbs are going really well. :D

I'm still catching up on my house plants (which all died... oh well, terrariums aren't supposed to last in this day and age). :)
