The volunteer tomato seedling that sprang up in the depths of winter is starting to stretch it legs.
So there are a few jobs I needed to tend to.
Over the last 52 days, it has grown from 5.5cm to 23cm but I expect the growth will get a wriggle on from here on in.

How to grow your own food. Radish

If you're new to the whole veggie growing thing then might I suggest you start with radish!

1st you'll need some good garden soil or a largish (30cm) pot and some good quality potting mix.

Plant your seeds as directed on the packet and keep watered. Please don't buy seedlings, radish grows so quick you won't gain anything and waste your money.

Once your seedlings begin to emerge from the soil, about 4 days, begin to apply a good liquid fertilizer, I use and recommend Powerfeed by Seasol and when they are just a bit smaller than a golf ball pick them out of the ground and enjoy.

Radish, if grown stress-free ie. regular watering and application of fertilizer, won't get very hot to taste but will maintain a good warm peppery taste.

So, what the bloody hell are you waiting for? Get stuck in.

Growing and planting Red Iceberg Lettuce.

*I left the root system of the beans in the soil hoping to take advantage of the nitrogen the beans should have fixed to their root
system.

🍅 Time to plant the lettuce that I'd sown about four weeks ago.

They have grown very well and looked healthy and strong.

I hope you find this interesting and informative. If you have any questions then please leave your question in the comments section and I get to you.

PowerFeed for the winning.

I've had self sown Borage growing in this same spot of the garden for years now and I've never bothered with it very much except to let it do its own thing.

This year I decided to do things a little different, mainly to see what the results would be.

When I say 'a little different' the only thing i changed was to give it a weed and to add a regular weekly dosage of Powerfeed by Seasol.

While I was expecting a general improvement in the growth and health of my Borage, I'd have to
say I'm more than stunned at the results of regular weekly feeding.

They have easily doubled in their overall size, now over a metre tall, and they look positively luscious from their health and vigor.

So the overall message from this post for me is PowerFeed for the winning.

Cheers

Stewart.
