Great Walks Magazine.
Silly me picked up a second copy of the latest 'Great Walks' Mag thinking it was the 'Great Walks Annual' edition with out checking first (I blame the medication I'm on). So unless I make my eyes totally unfocused and try to read both at once, don't try this it really hurts, I going to offer it up to you.
For a free copy just pop you name in the comments and in a couple of days (like, when I get a round to it) I'll put all your names into a hat and draw out the lucky winner. Easy as falling off a log, even I could do it.
Cheers and good luck

New shoes
My feet have been killing me in the old joggers I have been using for walking in and making the whole experience horribly unenjoyable. I suspect they are half a size to small and have been pushing my big toe back into my foot and causing heaps big pain.
So with what money I had managed to save up I went shoe hunting and after much research and consultation I came up with these.
They are from Hi Tec and are basically a heavy duty sand shoe great for day walks. As I become more accomplished as a walker/hiker I'll need to up grade to a sturdier boot but for now these will do me fine.
So far I have found them very light and comfortable (hardly know I've got them on). In just the few short walks I have done since I bought them my feet are very happy with my choice so far.
The chorus in this song says it all ;-)
Cheers and until next time,
Stewart

Mt, Tabletop
Its been two weeks now since I walked/climbed/scrambled Mt. Tabletop after a month or so of training walks for my fitness.
Unfortunately I was still a fair bit underdone and found the walk/scramble very tough and exhausting. Recovery for me has taken a full two weeks with a flare up of my colitis thrown it too boot (I'm finding anytime I exert myself it causes me problems with my colitis).
A few videos from my moby phone show the view from the top of Mt. Tabletop.

This one is looking back down to the camel hump that you need to cross to get to Tabletop itself.
While I found it tough and exhausting I have been self inspired to continue on my path of walking and exploring with a ever increasing list of walks I'd like to do.
One thing I have been thinking of doing is to go to the highest (Mt Kosciusko), lowest (lake
Eyre 15m below sea level), most easterly (Byron Bay, NSW), westerly (Steep Point, WA), northerly (Cape York, Qld) and southerly, mainland (Wilsons Promontory Lighthouse, Victoria) southerly ( South East Cape, Tas) parts of Australia.

Self indulgence
Self indulgence = Big Dads Pies and Bundaberg Naturally Brewed Ginger Beer.
Penance = Walking from home along North St. to Mary to
I think that should be enough penance.
A view towards the end of my walk at Jubilee Park near Toowoomba. I did the the 3.7 km Bridle Trail starting from the south then to the east finishing up at north. (Jubilee Park consists of 293 ha of bushland situated below the escarpment between Prince Henry Heights and Mackenzie Street. There are five graded walks in the park - the 3.7 km Bridle Trail, a shared walking/horse riding trail; the 1.2 km Scenic Rim Track; the 1.8 km Tristania Track; the 1.4 km ... See MoreSandstone Ridge Track, and the 900 m Crebra Track.)

Walkin'

Holy hole in the sand shoe Batman.
Who'd a thought walking could be so hard.
I had a rush of blood this morning after getting fed up with myself about not making any head way on losing any weight. So it was I decided to Walk a few errands and make a circuit out of it.
And after walking a circuit that covered half of Toowoomba and three hours later arriving home absolutely stuffed with my feet, knees, hip and back aching I'm more than hoping it will pay off next time I go out for a walk and it starts to become easier.
